Experimental Database

Distributed database: single portal and common data format

The creation of the distributed database aims to improve the dissemination and use of experimental results and to foster the impact of earthquake engineering research on practice, innovation and earthquake risk mitigation.

This requires harmonisation and unification of the European databases in earthquake engineering and the possibility of accessing, through a unique portal, the data stored at different database nodes which are able to dialog with the central portal using a common communication protocol.

The distributed database will greatly enhance the networking of European research infrastructures by improving their capacity for data exchange, sharing and access, on-line (for telepresence or distributed testing) and off-line (by uploading and/or downloading from a repository).

A broad and solid base for the calibration of numerical models will be achieved by enriching the database with data already available with the project beneficiaries or elsewhere.

Experimental Database - Released Deliverables

WP2 Distributed Database: Review of beneficiary current data formats - Specifications for the common data format and Data Access Portal (.pdf, 3.45 Mb)
This deliverable presents a review of beneficiary current data formats and the specifications for the common data format and Data Access Portal. In the first year of NA1 Networking Activity, user requirements have been collected; general architecture and security architectures of the system have been decided, after agreement of all the partners; specification for the common exchange format have been defined.

WP2 Preliminary version of Distributed Database and Data Access Portal (.pdf, 1.0Mb)
This deliverable presents design and implementation issues related to the preliminary version of the SERIES Data Access Portal (DAP). The Data Access Portal is developed following a user-centred iterative design cycle aiming to provide useful and usable services related to information retrieval functionalities to a wide range of stakeholders, organizations and individuals.

WP2
2nd version of Distributed Database and of Data Access Portal including user manual, documentation and guidelines (.pdf, 1.79Mb)
This deliverable presents the 2nd version of Distributed Database and includes design and implementation issues related to the SERIES Data Access Portal (DAP). An overview of the 2nd version of the SERIES DAP including user manual, documentation and guidelines are provided. Accessible at: http://www.dap.series.upatras.gr.

WP2 Enrichment of the Distributed Database with existing data (.pdf, 1.11Mb)
The present report is a background document accompanying Deliverable "Enrichment of the distributed database with existing data” (O). Its aim is to serve as a Manual describing the SERIES RC element structural databases which have been assembled from existing experimental data from literature, to provide researchers with the data needed to evaluate and develop seismic performance models for different RC load bearing elements. Three different databases were established and described in this Manual: RC beam database, RC column database and RC wall database. The present Manual does not deal with the own experimental data of SERIES partners already included in the distributed database during the last phase of the SERIES project via the SERIES Data Access Portal (www.dap.series.upatras.gr/).
